Readers' Photos # 108: Targa Tasmania Ferrari 308 GTB

Today's main photo, showing David Gilliver and Nigel Shellshear's slightly used Ferrari 308 GTB Targa car, comes to us via The Rhythm Section.  Sadly, the Italian classic came to grief on the Pelverata stage of Targa Tasmania's final day for 2021 but, to everyone's huge relief, neither crewman sustained serious injuries and both were reportedly able to walk away from the carnage.

Hopefully, the car can be rebuilt.  The shed that broke its fall might be another matter, however, leaving its anonymous owner understandably disgruntled.  Not that he was all that gruntled to start with, mind you; he's quoted in Tasmania's premier budgie cage liner as saying that "the race has always irritated me, to be honest, but not as much as a Targa car actually coming through my shed."  A fair call, probably.

For those of you that haven't already seen yesterday's UMPH coverage of the Tarraleah stage of Targa '21, the two images below show what Dave and Nige's Magnum-Mobile looked like before it Fosbury-flopped onto Mr Anonymous' man cave.  You can access further photos from that part of the event by going to https://uppermiddlepetrolhead.blogspot.com/2021/04/targa-tasmania-2021-tarraleah.html .

Below are another couple of pics, this time courtesy of Chris Denholm.  The second one really brings home what a wild ride it must've been for the crew.  It kinda shows why Mr Anonymous was the tiniest bit - and justifiably, it might be said - cheesed off, too.

And then, just to show what a gorgeous thing the flyin' Ferrari used to be, David Micallef has provided these great snaps from before Targa '21 had even begun.  If only time travel were a thing!

Here's some post-crash video of the car, too: https://youtu.be/F-sjhVTV3AY?si=2EL0Z64ArGMqRIfh.  Please enjoy!
