Classics by the Beach: July, 2021

There was a largish contingent of cars from the USA at July, 2021's, installment of Classics by the Beach, including this big-as-a-whale Chevrolet Impala.  My limited understanding of US engine designations is that the 327 cubic inch GM V8, as fitted to this car - is what's known as a "small block."  Everything's relative, I suppose.

The car was no minnow, though.  And its wheels - at least 18, if not 20" (I looked, was amazed and promptly forgot their actual size) - were  h u g e  relative to just about anything that I've ever seen short of having been fitted to a big 4WD or a medium-sized truck.  They looked fabulous on the car with their chrome finish perfectly complementing the rest of the abundant bright-work.  Nice!

This KE20 Corolla is a work in progress, says its owner.  It's recently had an engine upgrade - from 1200 cc to 1300, with a single Weber carbie - and he recently bought an unobtanium rear window louvre on eBay.  Here's looking forward to seeing the remainder of its resto coming to fruition!

The owner of the schmick Lancer Evo 5 didn't actually realise there was a car show going on and was only out for a coffee.  However, he was happy to have his pride and joy photographed and seemed to enjoy the spectacle provided by the other participants' cars.  Welcome aboard, Evo-Man!

Right time, right place!  I just happened to be admiring the F-Type Jag above when its owner and a chap with an original E-Type decided to do a spontaneous side-by-side comparison.

And the winner is ... ?  The person who keeps his trap shut for fear of causing offence, so you can make your own minds up.

Apologies from the UMPH team for posting this a whole week late.  In our defence, we were busy delivering write-ups and photos of Club Motori Italia's recent Baskerville hillclimb, a lovely XM Falcon hardtop and a tough-as Camaro, to name just a few examples of our recent output.

So why not take a look at these and the many, many photo-filled articles available on the uppermiddlepetrolhead site?  Even better, how about becoming a follower or sharing the bejeezus out of any photo or article that you enjoy?  There's bound to be something - be it cars, bikes, auto-shows or motorsports events - that your mates will enjoy, too!
