Classics by The Beach: April, 2026

Welcome to the 2026 Easter edition of Classics by The Beach, Hobart's first-Sunday-of-the-month cars 'n' coffee event, held at Long Beach, Sandy Bay.  And what a ripper day it was!  Sunny, warm and still - perfect Tasmanian autumn weather.  And plenty of cars not previously seen on this 'blog, too!

Sadly, Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili 33s don't always get the love they deserve.  Not so for the Alfa Male's lovely example, which looks great with crisp white duco, deep grey Tele-dial wheels and matching door mirrors and boot spoiler.  Simple. Tasteful.  Elegant.

This MkII Cortina was delightful, too.  Lovely - possibly original - paint, glittering chrome and a set of Bathurst Globe alloys.  It also had a genuine wooden dashboard that really set the interior off nicely.

Volvo P1800s aren't exactly a dime-a-dozen and nor are they a super-common sight at CbTB.  This one, resplendent in a sort of chocolately-metallic hue, was particularly nice.  It was also a right-hooker, so not an original Aussie car.  Sweet.

When did you last see a 300ZX in this sort of nick?  Why this particular variant of Nissan's cult-car Z line-up isn't more popular is a great riddle:  stunning looks, a more than decent V6 engine and genuinely plush appointments make it a real winner.  Maybe more of a GT than the earlier, more sports-focussed Zs but a wonderful car, nonetheless.

A Humber Supersnipe ute?  Yes, and I'm credibly informed that it's a production model, albeit in fairly limited numbers.  A gentleman's tip-run car but only for a nicer class of garbage.

I've never personally seen this awesome twin-cam Celica.  However, it has appeared on UMPH before, having been photographed by my brother, AKA the Chief Canberra Correspondent.  If you'd like to see it in greater detail, here's a link:  https://uppermiddlepetrolhead.blogspot.com/2025/02/classic-by-beach-february-2025.html.

Did you enjoy this post?  If so, why not browse the rest of the uppermiddlepetrolhead site?  There are loads and loads of classic, sports and performance vehicles featured, as well as stacks of car shows and motorsports events.  Even better, you can follow either the 'blog itself or do so via Upper Middle Petrol Head's Facebook page.  And please do like, comment and share!
