Baskerville Historics 2018 # 1: Grid and Pits Photos

Here's my pro-tip for budding shutter-bugs:  Photograph racing cars.  It's almost cheating; the colours, shapes and action lend themselves to great images, pure and simple!  Randomly point your lens at enough racing cars, with their aggressive, low-slung profiles and eye-catching livery, and you will end up with some great pics, guaranteed!

Of course, it helps if you attend a really, really magnificent spectacle like the Baskerville Historics - aka The Blast from The Past - held annually in September at Baskerville Raceway, less than thirty minutes' drive from the CBD of Tasmania's capital city, Hobart.  It is, quite simply, as good an event as you might hope to see, combining the very finest of historic racing cars - open-wheelers, sports-racing, sports, and modified and production saloons -  with Australia's best spectator circuit to provide drivers and motor-sport fans with an unrivalled experience!

I was only able to attend the first day of the event, sadly, meaning I missed out on Saturday and Sunday's racing.  Even so, I enjoyed it so much, and took so many photos, I've had to spread them across two posts:  this one - featuring grid and pit photos - plus a second with a few more grid shots and a whole lot of on-track action!

Please have a browse through the following images.  If you like my photos as much as I enjoyed taking them, please watch out for UMPH Baskerville Historics # 2:  On-Track Action, due this coming Wednesday, and see these beautiful cars being driven the way they were meant to be!

This gorgeous Jag features in the next installment of UMPH, totally side-ways on Corner One!

Please feel free to share this post with fellow motoring fans.  And don't forget to catch my next post, Baskerville Historics # 2:  On-Track Action, either!
