Random # 159: Citroen BX 19 TZI

Say what you will about French cars but they're rarely dull - Citroens, especially.  This one - a 1994 Citroen BX 19 TZI - was towards the end of the BX line-up and, as the 19 in the model designation suggests, is fitted with a 1.9 litre engine.  If UMPH remembers what owner Michael said correctly, the TZI denotes a more upmarket model than others in the range.

Michael also said that this BX (all BXs?) was / were styled by Nuccio Bertone - or, according to Wikipedia, by Marcello Gandini working for Bertone - the design house responsible for Fiat X1/9 and Lancia's iconic Stratos, to name but two of their impressive CV fillers.  Nuccio Bertone is not to be mistaken for fellow Italian Flaminio Bertoni, the designer responsible for Citroen's iconic Traction Avant, 2CV and DS models.

Confused?  You're forgiven!
