Random # 336: 1954 Buick Century

Image
There’s a lot going on with this awesome Buick Century !   A real lot!   And it’s all good! Depending on your own particular “take” on the design, it could be spaceship-inspired with echoes of thruster rockets and interstellar boosters.  Or, if you’re more of a firearms person, there are three gun-sights, more bullet-shaped protrusions than you could point an AK-47 at, barrel-ports on both front mudguards, and side profiles that resemble a rifle-stock.   Too much?   Not for a supersonic second!  It’s an absolute celebration of good ol’ 1950s’ American style and I, for one, love it! From the Former Chief Canberra Correspondent: Triumph TR4

Image
This immaculate Triumph TR4 may have already graced the pages of uppermiddlepetrolhead but, if so, our correspondent thinks it might've recently undergone a bit of a tart-up, because it’s looking particularly crisp and clean.   If it’s the same car we think it is (in our defence, it’s not the only red TR4 in Hobart), it never looked anything other than lovely but has now reached a new level of beauty!  We also really, really love the 1970s' personalised rego plates with their  TAS  state designations at the top. Better late than never, especially when a Bolwell Nagari's involved!  That's why the UMPH team's posting its November instalment of southern Tasmania's best monthly cars and coffee meet - Classics by the Beach - after their coverage of December's event.  Admittedly, it's all down to a scheduling   🐓 -up but there was no way we weren't going to feature such an epic vehicle!  Our photos are courtesy of correspondent GlamRock, who was absolutely floored by the Ford V8-powered, low production machine.  It's one of only 100 Nagari coupes ever made, with a further 18 roadsters completing the production run.  If you want to know more about these Aussie icons, you could do worse than check this out:   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bolwell_Nagari . This 808 / RX3 is a bit of a beast!  It's generally accepted that Australia officially missed out on the wagon versions of Mazda's rotary-powered sedans but they were available in the US, at least.  It's a
